Elemental Standards
Elemental standards are the calibration foundation for ICP-OES, ICP-MS, and atomic absorption methods — and the accuracy of every reported concentration in a metals analysis program traces directly back to the certified purity, stability, and traceability of the standard used to build the calibration curve. Matrix mismatch between the standard and the sample, incorrect acid concentration, and lot-to-lot variation in elemental concentration are among the most common sources of systematic error in trace metals analysis. For laboratories running EPA 200-series, SW-846, USP heavy metals, or drinking water compliance methods, elemental standards must be accompanied by Certificates of Analysis documenting traceability to NIST or equivalent primary reference materials to satisfy accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Ibis Scientific supplies elemental standards from Inorganic Ventures™, High Purity Standards™, and Spex CertiPrep™ covering single-element and multi-element standards, internal standards, quality control check standards, and custom multi-analyte blends in a range of concentrations and acid matrices for environmental, clinical, pharmaceutical, food safety, and petrochemical ICP and AA applications.
