Every chromatography result begins and ends with the vial — and the cap, septum, and insert system surrounding it. The vial holds the sample through preparation, storage, and injection. The closure seals it against evaporation, contamination, and analyte loss between the time the vial is capped and the moment the autosampler needle penetrates the septum. The insert concentrates what remains when volume is limited, ensuring the needle draws from a full sample zone rather than chasing dead volume at the base of a standard vessel. These three components function as a system, and when any one of them is mismatched to the application — wrong glass composition, incompatible liner material, incorrect crimp diameter, or inadequate dead volume correction — the integrity of every sample in the sequence is at risk.
